Orthodontic Myofunctional Therapy is a holistic, biological, orthodontic and airway practice located in Clearwater Florida. The biggest focus is treating airway, sleep, bite and TMJ problems for adults and kids. Some of our patients are mouth breathers. Others have jaw pain and clench their teeth. And many people have horrible sleep problems related to mouth breathing problems during sleep. We treat patients from all over the greater Tampa, Clearwater and Sarasota area. Many people who suffer from temporomandibular joint dysfunction have worn, broken and missing teeth. Many individuals have advanced teeth problems from TMD and teeth clenching issues. Our mission to treat and correct the underlying cause of TMD. “No one should have to accept tooth loss and a degrading painful dental condition…our job is to not only replace teeth but to also prevent future tooth loss.” And that is how TMJ treatment, expansion appliances, airway and myofunctional therapy are all connected.
We are accredited members of the IAOMT and offer the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique. We understands the impact dentistry has on overall health and therefore uses materials that are as safe and as biocompatible as possible for his patients. We use metal-free restorations only including zirconia crowns and porcelain filling materials. “Every material placed into the mouth has an impact on our system…we should select the one with the smallest and safest impact possible.”
Gary Adams and Beata Carlson received degrees of Doctoral of Dental Surgery degree from The University of Maryland Dental School. We have completed a certification course for treating orthodontic and orthognathic problems with appliances including the ALF and DNA Appliances. Such treatments have been shown to be very effective in treating sleep apnea, airway, and TMJ/TMD problems. Infact, there is a major link between TMJ, sleep apnea, and the airway. These later treatments are a major specialty area of the practice. Orthodontic Myofunctional Therapy operates at the location of Natural and Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Carlson is the owner at Natural and Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Adams has been practicing airway focused dentistry for over 10 years. Dr. Carlson is happy to have Dr. Adams input and consultation in helping Dr. Carlson treat her patients with the most up to date orthodontic appliances.
